January 1, 1970
Middle Tennessee State made its second Tangerine Bowl appearance in three seasons, but could not win a second time, falling 21-14 to Lamar Tech.
It was an even battle for nearly the entire game, until a freak play decided the outcome. A Lamar Tech field goal attempt fell short of the mark, but was inadvertently touched by a Blue Raider, and a Tech player fell on it in the end zone for a touchdown.
Once again, mistakes hurt the Raiders badly as they lost three fumbles and had two passes intercepted.
