Western Kentucky and the undefeated Coast Guard Bears, coached by Otto Graham, squared off in the 18th annual Tangerine Bowl.

Western Kentucky quarterback Sharon Miller ran for one touchdown, threw for two more, and was voted the MVP after leading the Hilltoppers to an easy 27-0 win. WKU intercepted four Coast Guard passes, while grabbing four fumbles to halt the Bear attack.
