Country Star Dierks Bentley To Perform At Capital One Bowl
The Capital One Bowl will add big-time musical talent to a bill that already features the top non-Bowl Championship Series postseason matchup in college football. Capital One presents Dierks Bentley in a free concert for game ticket holders at the Capital One FanFest pregame tailgate party as well as a headlining performance in the game’s halftime show.
The Capital One Bowl will be held this year in its traditional 1:00 p.m. New Year’s Day time slot at Orlando’s Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium. Bentley is slated to perform starting at 10:30 a.m. Capital One FanFest is open from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
CMA Award-winning singer/songwriter, Bentley has forged his own brand of Country Music combining classic Country songwriting, influences of bluegrass instrumentation and the energy of rock ‘n’ roll. He recently released a four-song EP titled Country & Cold Cans, which followed Bentley’s sixth studio album Home, released earlier this year. The album debuted at No. 1 and has spawned three chart-toppings hits, marking 10 career No. 1 songs as a singer and songwriter. Home also garnered Bentley three 2012 CMA Award nominations for Album of the Year and Single and Song of the Year for the title track. His five previous studio albums have sold more than five million copies and earned him an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry.
“We’re delighted to take the excitement of the Capital One Bowl to even greater heights by having Dierks Bentley perform a free concert at our FanFest,” said Roger Ferguson, Managing Vice President – Advertising and Sponsorships at Capital One. “Having a country music star followed by what will be a highly-entertaining bowl game is sure to make New Year’s Day memorable in Orlando.”
VIP passes which get fans in a reserved area closer to the stage for the concert are available as an add-on to the game ticket through Ticketmaster.com for $25. The VIP space also will include a VIP-only dedicated bar so that patrons do not need to leave the area for beverages.
Capital One Bowl tickets start as low as $35 and are all-inclusive (no added service charges). This year’s game will be played on Jan. 1, 2013, and features a matchup of top teams from the Big Ten and Southeastern conferences. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will be televised on ABC. The South Carolina Gamecocks knocked off the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 30-13, in last year’s matchup.
