Quarterback Jerry Nettles and The Citadel defense combined to produce the third shutout in Tangerine Bowl history as the Cadets overpowered Tennessee Tech in a 27-0 victory.
Nettles completed 8-of-14 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns while the defense allowed only three pass completions.
Cadet defensive tackles Harry Rakowski and Ron Hitchcock anchored the defensive line, while defensive back Bobby Crouch intercepted two passes.
