All-America quarterback Dave Alexander from East Carolina was the star of the 20th annual Tangerine Bowl. 

Alexander, who broke the Southern Conference record for total yardage earlier in the season, scored two touchdowns and passed for another to lead his team to a 31-0 whitewashing over Maine.
