Tennessee-Martin made its first-ever bowl game appearance, easily rolling past West Chester, 25-8.

A strong defensive effort led by defensive end Gordon Lambert held West Chester to 17 rushing yards, while netting two safeties. UT-Martin Quarterback Errol Hook, in his first start of the season, set up the first TD and ran four yards for another score. Hook was the game’s leading rusher with 73 yards and guided the UT-Martin offense to 314 total yards.

The only West Chester score came on a 74-yard punt return. The Skyhawks’ punter, Gene Sides, booted a school-record 69-yard punt in the contest. West Chester made its second-straight appearance in the bowl after winning the Lambert Cup (top small college team in the Northeast).
