In front of a sellout crowd of 51,296, Auburn took home its first bowl victory since 1974 with freshman running back Bo Jackson leading the way with two rushing touchdowns. 

Quarterback Randy Campbell, who completed 10-of-16 passes for 177 yards, earned MVP honors. 

Boston College sophomore quarterback Doug Flutie passed for 299 yards and two touchdowns to earn Offensive Player of the Game honors.
