A crowd of 63,584 saw Michigan and Arkansas meet for the first time. The combined 28 points scored in a wild fourth quarter were the most ever seen in the Citrus Bowl’s final period.
Michigan’s Anthony Thomas, who was named the game’s MVP, battered Hog defenders on his way to 132 yards and three touchdowns, while Tai Streets pulled down seven passes for 129 yards. For Arkansas, the combination of quarterback Clint Stoerner and running back Chris Chukwuma kept the Hogs in the game. Chukwuma rushed for two touchdowns, while Stoerner passed for 232 yards and two touchdowns.
In the second quarter, Ian Gold stepped in front of a Stoerner pass and returned it 46 yards for a Wolverine score, and in the fourth, James Whitley returned a pick for six more points.
