January 1, 2001
Michigan’s Anthony “A-Train” Thomas rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolverines to a thrilling 31-28 victory over Auburn in front of a crowd of 66,928.
Thomas, who earned game MVP honors for the second time in his career, became the bowl’s all-time career rushing leader with 321 yards and just the second runner in bowl history to rush for over 100 yards in two Citrus Bowls.
Michigan quarterback Drew Henson threw for 294 yards and two TDs for the benefit of receivers David Terrell (136 yards) and Marquis Walker (100 yards) – the first receiving tandem to reach the 100-yard mark since 1968.
