SEC & Big Ten Week 14 Roundup: Iron Bowl thriller shakes things up
Auburn and Alabama did not disappoint as the two in-state rivals delivered an Iron Bowl classic in front of 87,000 fans at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The two teams accounted for 869 total offensive yards and 93 total points as Auburn escaped with a 48-45 win on Saturday.
Running back Shaun Shivers provided the difference, as he scored on his only carry of the game — an 11-yard run with 8:08 left to put the Tigers ahead.
Following the go-ahead score, ‘Bama quarterback Mac Jones, who replaced injured star Tua Tagovailoa, scrambled for 18 yards on fourth-and-7 to put the Tide into field goal range. But the drive stalled at the 11 when Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown batted a third-down pass back to Jones and Joseph Bulovas missed a game-tying 30-yard field goal attempt with 2:00 left to play.

No. 17 Iowa 27, Nebraska 24: Keith Duncan converted a 48-yard field goal with one second left to give the Hawkeyes the victory over Nebraska on Friday. This was the second consecutive year that Iowa beat the Cornhuskers on a late field goal. Last year they won on a 41-yarder as time expired.
Indiana 44, Purdue 41 (2OT): Indiana outlasted Purdue to claim the Old Oaken Bucket back for the first time since the 2016 season. The win clinched the Hoosiers’ first eight-win season since 1993.
No. 1 Ohio State 56, No. 13 Michigan 27: J.K. Dobbins ran for four touchdowns and Justin Fields threw four touchdown passes, as Ohio State rolled past rival Michigan for the eighth straight time.
No. 10 Penn State 27, Rutgers 6: Nittany Lions tailback Journey Brown ran for 103 yards with three touchdowns and Will Levis added 108 rushing yards on 17 carries and threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jahan Dotson in the fourth quarter.
No. 12 Wisconsin 38, No. 8 Minnesota 17: Jonathan Taylor scored three touchdowns and wide out Quintez Cephus caught five passes for 114 yards, including a 47-yarder to clinch a spot against Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship game for Wisconsin.
Mississippi State 21, Ole Miss 20: With its postseason fate on the line, Mississippi State held on against in-state rival Ole Miss, thanks to a missed extra point at the end of the game. The one-point win is Mississippi State’s narrowest margin of victory in the 116-game series.
No. 4 Georgia 52, Georgia Tech 7: Jake Fromm threw four touchdown passes and Georgia cruised into the SEC championship game with 45-point win over Georgia Tech on Saturday — the Bulldogs’ biggest win ever against their state rival.
Kentucky 45, Louisville 13: Lynn Bowden Jr. rushed for career highs of 284 yards and four touchdowns to lead Kentucky to a school-record 517 rushing yards in a win over Louisville. Bowden has now led Kentucky to a 5-2 turnaround since he moved from receiver to quarterback.
No. 2 LSU 50, Texas A&M 7: Heisman hopeful Joe Burrow totaled 352 passing yards and three touchdowns to help LSU beat Texas A&M and clinch the Tigers’ first unbeaten regular season since 2011.
No. 11 Florida 40, Florida State 17: Kyle Trask threw three first-half touchdown passes, including two to Freddie Swain, and the Gators defeated the Seminoles to end a four-game home losing streak in the series.
