Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl Sells Out Its 70th Matchup

The 2016 Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl between Michigan and Florida is officially a sellout.  The bowl reached its normal capacity within 24 hours of team announcements on Dec. 6 then almost immediately sold out additional capacity that was added in the stadium’s north end zone.

In 2008, the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl (also featuring Florida and Michigan), sold out within 13 hours of team announcements. The attendance for the 2008 game was 69,748, seventh-highest in bowl history.  The highest attendance ever at an Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium game was 73,358 (2003 Florida Blue Florida Classic). 

When the stadium was reconstructed in 2014, the standard capacity decreased, albeit with a capability for adding seats up to an expanded capacity of 65,000. Attendance for the game will not be announced until approximately midway through the third quarter on game day. The current attendance record in the new stadium was posted by MLS expansion franchise Orlando City (62,510, 3/8/15, vs. New York City FC).
