Michigan To Face Florida In 70th Annual Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl
The Michigan Wolverines (9-3, 6-2 Big Ten) and the University of Florida Gators (10-3, 8-2 SEC) will meet in the 70th annual Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl. The New Year’s Day Classic will kick-off in its traditional 1:00 p.m. timeslot on ABC.
Florida and Michigan both return to Orlando after their 2008 rematch that featured legendary Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr’s last game and Florida Heisman winner Tim Tebow. Michigan won 41-35 in front of 69,748.
Florida and Michigan are both coming off a year with new head coaches. Florida hired Colorado State’s Jim McElwain and Michigan hired San Francisco 49ers head coach, and former Wolverine, Jim Harbaugh. Both programs are coming into the game after successful seasons.
Florida enters as the SEC East Champion, a feat they haven’t accomplished since 2009.
Michigan won nine games for the first time since the 2007 season when they played in the Citrus Bowl. Michigan is looking for its first bowl victory since the 2011 Sugar Bowl.
This is Florida’s sixth appearance and Michigan’s fifth in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.
This will be the third meeting between the two schools with Michigan holding a 2-0 advantage.
