Nebraska To Play In Capital One Bowl
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been selected to play in the 2013 Capital One Bowl against an SEC opponent to be announced later tonight.
Nebraska, champions of the Big Ten Legends Division at 10-3 (6-1 Big Ten) heads to Orlando for the second time in as many seasons after posting its third 10-win season in four years. The Cornhuskers fell to South Carolina in last year’s Capital One Bowl, 30-13. This year they return Taylor Martinez, who is the Huskers’ all-time career leader in total offense with more than 9,000 yards. The junior quarterback pairs with running backs Rex Burkhead and Ameer Abdullah to lead the most explosive ground game in the Big Ten this season, averaging 254 yards per game.
“On behalf of Florida Citrus Sports, its scouts and members, I am privileged to welcome the University of Nebraska back to Orlando,” said Ruffin. “With this being Coach (Tom) Osborne’s last game at Nebraska, we are honored to host him, Coach Pelini and this great Nebraska team on New Year’s Day.”
Nebraska is one of only four teams in the nation to win nine games each of the last five seasons, joining Alabama, Oregon and Boise State. The Huskers bowl appearance is their 49th all-time bowl appearance.
