SEC Preview Week Seven

The SEC game of the week pits South Carolina (6-0, 4-0 SEC) at LSU (5-1, 1-1 SEC). The Tigers return home after a heartbreaking loss in Gainesville. South Carolina is amidst a three game stretch, all three against top 10 teams (Georgia, LSU, Florida).

Auburn (1-4, 0-3 SEC) travels to Oxford to take on Ole Miss. Both programs are looking for their first conference win in 2012.

Alabama (5-0, 2-0 SEC) continues its defense of the 2011 BCS National Championship when the Crimson Tide travels to Columbia with Missouri (3-3, 0-3 SEC). Known for their stout defense, the Tide offense has been clicking on all cylinders. They are one of three teams to be perfect in the red zone (Oklahoma State, Buffalo), and Tide QBs haven’t thrown an interception in eight games dating back to last season. The last time a No. 1 team traveled to Columbia, the Tigers defeated Oklahoma, 36-27 (2010).

Florida (5-0, 4-0 SEC) continues its undefeated season at Vanderbilt (2-3, 1-2 SEC) in Week Seven. The Gators haven’t lost to the Commodores since 1988. Florida is the only team in the FBS that has yet to allow a point in the fourth quarter this season.

Arkansas (2-4, 1-2 SEC) returns home after two weeks on the road to host Kentucky (1-5, 0-3 SEC). The Wildcats will try to stop a high-powered Razorback offense that averages 409 yards per game. Kentucky leads the overall series, 4-2.

Mississippi State (5-0, 2-0 SEC) welcomes Tennessee (3-2, 0-2 SEC) to Davis Wade Stadium as the Bulldogs look to extend their unbeaten streak to eight games (dating to last season). The Vols have defeated Mississippi State in six straight games, winning nine of the last ten.

Texas A&M’s (4-1, 2-1 SEC) original bye week turned into a makeup game due to Hurricane Isaac, forcing the Aggies to play 12-straight weeks. They head to Shreveport for a nonconference matchup with Louisiana Tech.
