SEC Week Two Preview

Auburn (0-1, 0-0 SEC) looks to get their first win of the season against Mississippi State (1-0, 0-0 SEC), who wants their first non-Egg Bowl SEC win under Dan Mullen. The past few meetings between these two teams have come down to the wire, with Auburn managing to coming out on top.

The Florida Gators (1-0, 0-0 SEC) will be heading off to Texas to welcome Texas A&M (0-0,0-0 SEC) in the Aggies’ first game in the new conference. Texas A&M’s first game was postponed last week due to Hurricane Isaac.

The other new SEC member, Missouri (1-0, 0-0 SEC), also opens league play as they welcome No. 7 Georgia (1-0, 0-0 SEC) to Columbia. After suspending four defensive starters against the Tigers, the Bulldogs will need the help of stars like Aaron Murray and freshman, Todd Gurley, to walk away with a victory in this game.

No. 3 LSU (1-0, 0-0 SEC) hosts Washington (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12) in Death Valley. The Tigers’ dominating defense will have to contain UW quarterback Keith Price and give their own signal-caller, Zach Mettenberger, an opportunity to develop as a leader.

Vanderbilt (0-1, 0-1 SEC) travels to Evanston to take on Northwestern (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) in prime time.

No. 9 South Carolina (1-0, 1-0 SEC) hosts local foe East Carolina (1-0, 0-0 Conference USA). With quarterback Connor Shaw still recovering from last weeks game against Vanderbilt, running back Marcus Lattimore may have to carry the load for the Gamecocks.

No. 1 Alabama (1-0, 0-0 SEC) will host West Kentucky (1-0, 0-0 Sun Belt) Saturday afternoon.
Ole Miss (1-0, 0-0 SEC) hosts UTEP (0-1, 0-0 Conference USA) as the Rebels continue their progress under Hugh Freeze.

No. 8 Arkansas (1-0, 0-0 SEC) looks to come out strong against Louisiana- Monroe (0-0, 0-0 Sun Belt) following last week’s victory against Jacksonville State.

Kentucky (0-1, 0-0 SEC) will try to rebound from a tough loss to in-state rival Louisville last week when they take on Kent State (1-0, 0-0 Mid-American).

Lead by QB Tyler Bray, Tennessee (1-0, 0-0 SEC) follows up an impressive win against NC State this past weekend by hosting Georgia State (0-1, 0-0 CAA).
