The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 45-31, in the 2013 Capital One Bowl. Quarterback Aaron Murray broke a 31-31 tie in the fourth quarter and led the Dawgs to victory with a record-setting passing performance. “I’m just really thankful for the victory,” said Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt after the game. “Very impressed with Coach Pelini’s team. They definitely were well prepared, played extremely hard.” It wasn’t the game either team expected, but the 59,712 in attendance at the […]

The stat trotted out most often during bowl season, regardless of the school, is a program’s record in bowls. Whether or not the Huskers won the 1962 Gotham Bowl, a game played five years before Bo Pelini was even born, has no effect on this year’s game. But not all bowl history is relegated to trivia and tailgate trash talk. Recent bowl history, especially when the current players and coaches are involved, can indicate how the players might perform on […]

Bo Pelini and the Nebraska Cornhuskers have been hearing a lot about how this year’s Capital One Bowl is about redemption. To a certain point, that’s true. It’s their opportunity to show that they’re the team that went 10-2 and played for a Big Ten Championship, not the team that Wisconsin soundly defeated in that same championship game. But a larger examination of the Nebraska program shows that so much more is riding on this game and this season. Pelini […]

Lately, no stat has been used to define the Nebraska Cornhuskers more than the 539 rushing yards allowed against Wisconsin in the B1G Ten Championship Game. But one stat, let alone one game, does not define a team. “It’s not the first time we’ve gotten hit in the mouth,” said Huskers Head Coach Bo Pelini at today’s Capital One Bowl press event. “Everyone who’s played the sport of football has.” Georgia knows the feeling well, having given up 350 yards to […]

Few teams qualify for “storied program” status. There are even fewer coaches that can truly be classified as legends. In the case of Tom Osborne and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, both monikers fit snuggly. When the former head coach and congressman and current Athletic Director Osborne pays you a compliment, it means something. That’s exactly what he did on Sunday night after the Blackshirts were announced as this year’s Big Ten participant in the Capital One Bowl. “We were treated very […]

The six-week gauntlet also includes two difficult road tests at Ohio State and Michigan State, and a matchup in Lincoln […]

Players and coaches from Nebraska and South Carolina met at DisneyQuest for Day for Kids, a charity event with the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation. The Cornhuskers and Gamecocks took time out of their Capital One Bowl preparations to spend some time with disadvantaged children from around Central Florida. “You always want to give back,” said Nebraska head coach Bo Pellini. “The kids in our program understand that. A lot of them don’t come from a lot either. This gives them […]
