Week 2 Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl Projections

Though the regular season is still young, it’s never too early to see what members of the media are projecting for the 70th annual Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.

Jerry Palm (CBSSports.com): Penn State vs. Georgia

Jason Kirk (SBNation): Michigan vs. Georgia

Brian Bennett (ESPN Big Ten Blog): Wisconsin

David Ching (ESPN SEC Blog): Ole Miss

Mark Schlabach (ESPN): Wisconsin vs. Ole Miss

Brett McMurphy (ESPN): Northwestern vs. Georgia

After two weeks of football the experts are trending toward four different Big Ten teams and two SEC teams.

Penn State has the most appearances by a Big Ten team in the Buffalo Wild Wings with five but they haven’t been in Orlando since 2010 where they defeated LSU 19-17. On the other side, Georgia has the most appearance by an SEC team with six. The Bulldogs last came to Orlando in 2013 when they defeated Nebraska 45-31.

Michigan has four appearances in Orlando but none since 2008 when they defeated Tim Tebow and the Gators 41-35 in head coach Llyod Carr’s final game.

Of the teams projected, Wisconsin has been here in the most recently as they were here in 2014 when they fell to ninth-ranked South Carolina 24-24.

Northwestern has made just one appearance in Orlando in the 1997 Citrus Bowl where they were defeated by Peyton Manning and Tennessee 48-28.

Ole Miss is one of five SEC teams who have not made an appearance in Orlando but they will be here for the 2016 Orlando Kickoff against Florida State.
