Week 7 Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl Projections

After week seven in the SEC & Big Ten that saw one of the craziest finishes in college football history, the college football media have three favorites from the SEC and four from the Big Ten. For the third consecutive week, Florida is the most popular pick out of the SEC while Michigan is the new favorite for the Big Ten.

Here are the latest projections for the 70th annual Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.

Jerry Palm (CBSSports.com):  Michigan vs. Florida

Jason Kirk (SBNation):  Michigan vs. Florida

Brian Bennett (ESPN Big Ten Blog): Michigan

Greg Ostendorf (ESPN SEC Blog):  Texas A&M

Mark Schlabach (ESPN):  Michigan vs. Florida

Brett McMurphy (ESPN):  Michigan vs. Texas A&M

Bill Bender (Sporting News): Iowa vs. Florida

College Sports Madness: Nebraska vs. Mississippi State

Bryan Fischer (Bleacher Report): Michigan State vs. Florida

Zac Ellis (Sports Illustrated): Iowa vs. Florida

After falling to sixth ranked LSU on the road, the Florida Gators were picked by six of 10 media members to return to the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl for the first time since 2008. If selected, Florida would be making its sixth appearance in the Citrus Bowl which would tie Georgia for most appearances.

The media have the Gators facing three different opponents, two of which would be rematches of notable past match-ups. This first is Iowa, who made a memorable debut in 2005. Second is Michigan, who would be making its fifth appearance and first since 2008 when they defeated the Gators in Tim Tebow and Lloyd Carr’s last game.  And lastly Michigan State, who would be making its fourth appearance in Orlando and first since 2011. In the 2000 game, the Spartans defeated the Gators on a last-second field goal by Paul Edinger.

For the second week in a row Brett McMurphy has Texas A&M making its Citrus Bowl game debut. Greg Ostendorf of ESPN also has the Aggies coming to Orlando.

For the third consecutive week, College Sports Madness has Mississippi State making its first Citrus bowl appearance but for the third straight week they have them playing a different opponent. This week they have the Bulldogs facing Nebraska who was most recently in Orlando in 2013.
