After falling to sixth ranked LSU on the road, the Florida Gators were picked by six of 10 media members to return to the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl for the first time since 2008. If selected, Florida would be making its sixth appearance in the Citrus Bowl which would tie Georgia for most appearances.
The media have the Gators facing three different opponents, two of which would be rematches of notable past match-ups. This first is Iowa, who made a memorable debut in 2005. Second is Michigan, who would be making its fifth appearance and first since 2008 when they defeated the Gators in Tim Tebow and Lloyd Carr’s last game. And lastly Michigan State, who would be making its fourth appearance in Orlando and first since 2011. In the 2000 game, the Spartans defeated the Gators on a last-second field goal by Paul Edinger.
For the second week in a row Brett McMurphy has Texas A&M making its Citrus Bowl game debut. Greg Ostendorf of ESPN also has the Aggies coming to Orlando.
For the third consecutive week, College Sports Madness has Mississippi State making its first Citrus bowl appearance but for the third straight week they have them playing a different opponent. This week they have the Bulldogs facing Nebraska who was most recently in Orlando in 2013.
